Welcome!

In an effort to keep all of our neighbors more safe throughout hurricane season, this 20-page guide is compiled as a public service and is available free of charge to all people. The 2023 Hurricane Season Guide contains a Quick Checklist, as well as expanded sections on packing, taking care of your home, how to make evacuation decisions, and additional resources.

This guide is a 2023 update based on information compiled by Chenier “Klie” Kliebert, Déja Jones, Sarah Tuttle Goff, and Bri Lentz with The Resiliency Initiative – and worked from IWW’s “COVID-19 Guide to Hurricane Season” published in 2020 by IWW staff. The information in this guide is fact checked and compiled by multi-generational New Orleanians, trained Emergency Management specialists, friends, family, and neighbors. We will be releasing a Spanish version soon, as well as an updated “Queer/Trans Guide to Storm Season” by July 31.

Note: We encourage you, your organization, and/or your business to share and print copies of the guide in its entirety. However, the way we have organized this year’s guide is very intentional – copies should remain unedited. Please do not add or remove logos, remove pages, or otherwise edit or extract any content for further publication or distribution without express permission from Imagine Water Works.
